Enjoy Food = Healthy

Last week, I was at a meeting where the lunch was delicious and beautiful; organic ingredients prepared and presented gorgeously. Aaaahh, enjoyment of food and the eating experience are so important to everyday sustenance.

Well, as with all things in life, it’s all about balance.  A study just out shows that the expectation of enjoyment can backfire.

Obese people expect to enjoy food more than lean people do, but when they eat, they enjoy it less, a brain study shows.

And that’s a problem. To make up for the missing enjoyment, obese people eat more high-calorie food. Overeating further dulls food enjoyment and locks people in a vicious circle.

So maybe what Everyday Sustainable is about is not to expect enjoyment, but to actually enjoy each meal.
